FRIT 7739: Face to Face Staff Development Workshop Element 5.1 Element 5.2
I have selected the FRIT 7739 face to face staff development workshop to represent standard 5. This workshop was created to fill a need determined by a needs assessment. This activity fulfils all three elements in standard 5. This professional learning opportunity was created after a needs assessment was completed throughout my district. An evaluation was also completed upon completion of the program to determine overall effectiveness. The district saw that many math teachers were only teaching whole group instruction and not allowing students time for individualized instruction based on data. This workshop gives teachers the steps to link Khan Academy with the NWEA MAP scores that our district uses as a promotion requirement to target areas of strength and weakness. I enjoyed presenting this information to the 6th grade math teachers in the district. It was very rewarding to see other people getting something out of a product I created. I know that many teachers in my district struggle with technology because I see it in my own building all the time. Through screencasts I was able to assist teachers online after the workshop for a refresher after the face to face workshop had ended.
FRIT 7739: Technology Program Administrator Element 5.3
This program evaluation focused on the third subelement of standard 5. I performed visual and verbal evaluations to determine the overall effectiveness of the program at RHHS. I was able to observe through field experience how the technology team at RHHS used needs assessments determine what was most effective for their staff and worked well together to meet those needs. I saw so many things that were amazing at RHHS, and it was amazing to see that school thrive. The school strives to be a technology leader in their community and are well on their way to achieving that goal. I liked the monthly meetings with the technology specialist in the building for a face to face PD, but also the opportunity for online PDs for improving pedalogoloical skills.
