FRIT 7739: Collaborative Unit on Digital Citizenship Element 4.2 Element 4.3
This unit meets all elements in standard 4. The students who participate in this unit modeled their understanding in 3 different assessments. This unit demonstrates my knowledge of communicating the online ethical issues student will face through technology and facilitating the use of digital tools and resources to support students diverse needs. This unit allowed students to read articles and watch videos to explore digital citizenship through a virtual classroom setting. I really enjoyed creating and presenting this unit with the media specialist at my school. I was able to work with all the 6th grade students in my building in a blended learning environment. All students were with us in a face to face classroom, but completed the online unit. The media specialist and myself were able to co-facilitate if students had questions while completing the unit on digital identity.
FRIT 7234: 3 Mini Lessons Element 4.1 Element 4.2 Element 4.3
This artifact represents standard 4. This artifact demonstrates my ability to promote strategies for achieving equitable access to digital tools and use best practices for students and teachers. This artifact also serves as a model for how technology can be used in a blended learning environment. The assignment was to create mini lessons that could be used with students in the classroom or on line. The first lesson covers fair use, citations, copyrights and plagiarism, The third lessons focuses on the IB learner profile of "Global Communicator" and sheds light on global awareness. As a school we are challenged by administration to make lessons engaging and global. The IB status of my school does foster a global mindset and I was excited to develop a lesson that could be used to expand my students world view.
CIED 7602-My Digital Citizenship Resources, Skills and Practice Element 4.1 Element 4.2 Element 4.3
This assignment was part of CIED 7602. It represents standard 4 by explaining each element of digital citizenship and giving a brief example of how each of the 9 elements may appear in a classroom setting. Because each classroom has its own set of culturally diverse students, it is important that teachers and technology coaches be equipped with a variety of tools to make sure everyone is successful and all needs are being met. This assignment gave me the opportunity to explore the digital citizenship elements and give an explanation in my own words. I also was able to see the importance of each digital citizenship element to my students.
